Alarna Lawley

Crochet is a material that opened up conversations and allowed for discussion through textile pieces. As a craft that is dominated by women and is historically claimed as working-class, crochet allows for the exploration of ideas around access to the arts, about value in the arts and about the classism present.

Using her nans experiences a lense into these conversations Alarna makes work focused on language and how language can be used to determine class and therefore value.
